So today started work for me. I got in and got a nice tour of the facility. It is nice and should be fun. I met most of the people and decided that most of the QC group did in fact interview me. Since I didn't actually end up in the QC department this was an interesting move. After my nice facility tour I got to start reading "Standard Operating Procedures" or SOPs for short. They are incredibly boring and basically tell you have to get things done. Naturally there should be a SOP for how to write a SOP, but it just seems a bit redundant. I can also only ready 5 of the buggers a day, which is a horribly low number. That's to help "retention" because since legally they have to keep all the stuff in binders having it all in memory serves you better. I got to watch videos about manufacturing practices and read about operations.
During breaks from watching videos or reading, I talked with a lot of people. Everyone wanted to know about the food I was eating since they heard I had weird food allergies. They also wanted to talk about different things and apparently the supervisors had a debate about which department I would end up in. Hopefully I will like this QA bit, but so far so good. Tomorrow I get to go get crocs for work for my cleanroom (bunny) suit. I also get to learn how to go into the ante-chamber to do the cleanroom gowning. Since I'm in QA I get to have a hand in just about everything! At least it promises to not really ever be boring.
This was also the first day for A in dayschool. I took her in, put her down and off she walked. I turned to explain a bit about the diapers (which the teacher thoroughly loved!) and then I couldn't get a good-bye wave or anything. When I went to pick her up she was still in the same outfit! Go Teacher who hasn't ever used cloth diapers before being able to put her in cloth diapers so well that she doesn't have red marks on her legs and is still in the outfit I dropped her off in. :) I saw the teacher outside when I was going in to pick her up and the teacher said, "She had a GREAT first day." She played well with others, napped well, cooperated and basically did everything well other than eat. She can't be perfect, right? Anyway, as soon as she saw me, she yelled at me which amounts to crying for about five seconds really really loudly. Then she was fine. She also napped on the ride home and was ready to play with Chris and me once we got dinner ready. She even ate quite well, so hopefully she doesn't eat breakfast well and dinner well and leave off lunch. I'll send her with lunch tomorrow to see if that helps.
Overall, it was a good day I think. A liked her new friends, I liked my new friends, and Chris continues to like his friends. This may be a good situation after all.
I need to go do dishes since Chris cooked. Hope all is well with you. Pray for us this weekend as we have horrid high temps and no ac...
