June?!?

I've got about 15 minutes to sit so here's a quick re-cap of the past week and change... I know I should be sleeping, but I've got breakfast (banana bread) in the oven and want that more than sleep.  Plus hopefully Miss A will sleep again later today (chances are good) and I'll catch some sleep then.

Grandma Sehorn and Cathy were supposed to come up last Wednesday, but ended up having canceled flights due to O'Hare shutting down.  There was dense fog here but that's the only thing that we can figure out would shut down the airport.

Thursday Susan (Chris' mom) came to visit and stayed through yesterday.  Well, we saw her last on Monday as her flight left early yesterday, but she came and visited.  We had a good visit and managed to do a lot of nothing except caring for A (and me after I got sick).

Chris's birthday was on Saturday, so we went to our favorite Brazilian steakhouse -- Chama Gaucha -- with a few friends.  It was nice to get out.  As always, people were shocked with A, her being quiet, and her head of hair.  Oh, and shocked that I'm the mom since apparently I don't look like I just evicted a baby from my abdomen.  We had a lot of fun and they brought out both Chris and A "Happy Birthday" desserts.

Monday we went to the outlet malls and Chris bought some "grown up pants" as he calls them.  Basically real pants, not jeans.  He now has three new pairs of pants that fit very well and a new shirt.  We took A (because we can't go anywhere without her these days) and started off with her in the backpack carrier.  She ended up getting really hot since Chris was carrying her, though she could have gotten quite warm with me carrying her as well since Memorial Day was the hottest it has been all year (we hit 90, something we did a handful of times last summer).  After Chris got his pants though we finished the circle and Chris just carried A on his arm.  It was quite neat to watch all the women and girls look at the two of them.  He would basically part the crowds and Susan and I simply followed in his wake.  All the oohs and ahhs were impressive.  I've never been that impressed by little people so I don't get it, but I do get the "dad carrying around his baby girl" as being a great thing.  :)

The days have basically been about the same as "normal" these days -- A wakes up, nurses, goes back to sleep.  While she sleeps she makes a diaper and we either sleep or get something done (like me making banana bread).  She wakes up eventually and either wants to eat or for us to change her diaper, which we oblige.  Then she wants to either nurse or have her diaper changed, and goes back to sleep.  One thing we've done is basically go entirely to cloth diapers these days.  A was having trouble with the disposable ones (even the sensitive ones from the hospital) so we've started her on little gpants.  We're hoping she'll be big enough for our stash of one size diapers soon, but as a mom, I've got to say, I don't want it to be too soon.  I both want her to be big and able to tell me what's wrong as well as stay small and cuddly for a while.

Anyway, I've got a timer about to go off so I should go.  I hope all is well with everyone wherever you happen to be.
